Title: Data Warehouse Engineer

Location: Sacramento, CA – Hybrid

Duration: 7 Months

Project Details:

This position is for a Medi-Cal Data Warehouse project for State of California, working in Sacramento, CA. The Data Feeds Specialist will be responsible to develop and maintain the data feed process from various data sources and transmit data in preparation for loading into the MIS/DSS data warehouse.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the data feed process from various data sources and transmit data in preparation for loading into the MIS/DSS data warehouse.
  • Analyze DHCS warehouse requirements and research existing claim and eligible processes to develop the data feed process.
  • Utilize statistical tools such as SAS EG to create reports and trends from the MIS/DSS and support user requests.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis using SAS EG.
  • Prepare reports using Business Objects WEBI.
  • Respond to help desk and system changes and updates or changes to the existing data extract and data feed process.

Required Skills:

  • Five (5) years of experience with front-end data warehouse or similar processing which includes extracting data for large files from various sources, cleansing data, and preparing the data for loading into a data warehouse.
  • Five (5) years of experience as an analyst-programmer performing various system development life cycle functions including project planning, requirements analysis, program specifications, coding, testing, and implementation.
  • Five (5) years of experience working with statistical reporting data tools such as SAS for large volume databases developing and maintaining production reports.
  • Five (5) years-experience working in a mainframe environment (with working knowledge of COBOL, VSAM file structures, JCL and TSO) Intermediate level experience with developing program specifications, pseudo code, or logic diagrams -including Warnier-Orr diagrams to identify system changes.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with Business Objects.
  • Experience with paid and denied claims (diagnosis codes, procedure codes, etc.) and data standards (Protected Health Information, privacy standards, HIPAA data elements, and code sets.)
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite of tools and VISIO in facilitating written communication such as developing status reports, creating/updating technical and procedure documentation, and communication with team members, end users and stakeholders.
  • Experience in oral communication in a variety of situations such as interacting with the user community (e.g. State staff, vendors, and Data Center staff), making presentations, facilitating meetings and walkthroughs, and user training.
  • Experience transitioning program changes into production. Experience with Medicaid, Social Security Administration (SSA), or other welfare programs specific to state and federal policies and procedures.

Preferred Skills:

  • Two (2) years of experience working with Business Objects.
